RIL – Samsung to Launch 4G Smartphone in India for Rs.5, 500/-

Reliance Industries Limited is ready to launch the 4G LTE in India with cheaper Smartphone commercially. The expected date of initiation is 15th August 2013, on the Independence Day. It will be there in the whole country by December 2013. The 4G arm of RIL is named as “Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL)”.

According to news, Samsung 4G Smartphone will be launched at Rs.5500 only! It will be launched with data packages (starting Rs. 100/-) High-end Smartphone will also be available at minimum down-payments and equated monthly installments (EMIs).

There have been reports that Reliance Infocomm had approached Samsung in early 2002. The company had the request to launch cheaper handsets. Samsung refused it with the reason of low cost. It said that at such low price, the offer of cheap handsets cannot be materialized.

Reliance Industry then shifted to LG for support in launching handsets under “Dhirubhai Ambani Pioneer Offer (DAPO)”. Both Reliance Industry and Samsung did not give any comments about the deal.

In case of a breach between LG and RIL, other manufacturers like Huawei, LG, Alcatel Lucent etc. can utilize the opportunity to come to the front. For Samsung, it will be a big piece of cake that it is difficult to reject.

Let’s see what these companies will do for us in the future too and in which ways.
