Reliance Jio Gets 10,000 Mobile Numbers to test 4G LTE network

22 April 2013 1,256 views No Comment

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio Infocom, the 4G BWA spectrum winner has been given 10,000 mobile numbers by Department of Telecommunications to run voice over LTE network trial. 83378 number series has been provided to Reliance for the purpose. It will be used across Mumbai, Delhi and Jamnagar with 4000 mobile numbers each in Delhi and Mumbai. In Jamnagar (Gujarat) the number will be 2000.

The technology that Reliance is going to use for voice over LTE-TD is not made known as yet. As Reliance Jio does not have 2G network, it cannot use CSFB (circuit switch fall back). Surely then, SPIRIT-DSP’s VoIP engine is the secret behind VoIP.

A resource said that Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC), the technical arm of the department of telecommunications (DoT), has been excluded from the trial records.

DoT has however guarded the right to publish Reliance Jio’s trial findings on its website if it is in the consumer interest. It is told to us that  RIL has not given any response to the email query sent by ET seeking information on the development.

Another interesting addition to your information here is that Reliance Jio is going to use Nokia Lumia 900 and some other Smartphones for the Voice LTE trial. Reliance has published its financial reports for last quarter. It has finalized the vendors and technology partners to roll out 4G network. Therefore the trial testing is soon launching.
