Ericsson takes Micromax to court- breach at a license agreement

2 April 2013 446 views No Comment

Ericsson has taken legal action against Micromax and takes it to the Delhi court. Ericsson claims Rs. 100 crore damage, as a result of Micromax’s inability to parley a license agreement. Both the companies have high repute, Ericsson being one of the largest network equipment maker and MMX a popular Indian brand maker.

The Economic Times has reported that Micromax has not yet signed many of licenses agreements of original advancements for technology, which is used with 3G and EDGE or GPRS.

The Delhi High Court has ordered that Micromax has to pay 1.25% to 2% price of for the disputed devices’ sales. It has also given Ericsson the right to inspect the stock at MMX to make sure that there is nothing now going on against the agreements.

The disputed devices, according to Ericsson, are Micromax Ninja series, the Funbook talk tablet and Canvas 2 series. Micromax takes it as a routine of Ericsson and points out that Ericsson had done the same with South Korean Samsung.

It is now obvious that Canvas 2 availability will be affected. Though Micromax A116 has remained unaffected. Ericsson has most probably not interfered with it.

We just have to wait and watch now what the outcome of this breach is. We wish a fair decision between both.
