Make a global presence; Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) has won a bid to establish an exclusive and dedicated telecommunication network for upcoming Commonwealth Games 2010 (CWG’10).
The Central Government approved Rs.182Crore budget for it. MTNL has designed the network with multiple redundancy using high capacity Internet Protocol / Multi Protocol Label Switching (IP / MPLS) Technology. MTNL would also provide Dark Fibre along with IP/MPLS at no cost to the Government.

TTSL Ranked No.1 for the Sixth Consecutive Month by Adding New Subscriber

India’s youngest and fastest-growing pan-India dual-technology (CDMA & GSM) telecom service provider Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL) ranked number one telecom operator in the country for the sixth consecutive month in the terms of new subscriber accumulation by adding more than 2.98 million subscribers in January 2010.
TTSL added 2, 981, 853 new subscribers in January 2010 from its CDMA and GSM operations put together. In December 2009 too, TTSL had showed a healthy growth in new subscriber additions, adding 3,336,476 new subscribers.

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) Tuesday unveiled new server that will allow its smart phone users to wirelessly access their

Bharti Airtel Bidding US$10.7B for Zain’s Africa Mobile operations

Bharti Airtel, India’s largest mobile phone service provider, is in exclusive discussions to buy the African operations of Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Co. (known as Zain), in a deal with an enterprise value of US$10.7 billion, the Indian company said in a filing to theBombay Stock Exchange.
Zain said it has received an offer for its mobile telecommunications operations in Africa, excluding Moroccoand Sudan, without naming the bidder nor providing further details.
Bharti Airtel said the two companies have agreed to enter exclusive discussions until March 25 over the deal for Zain Africa BV.

Tata Tele ties up with Future Group

Tata Teleservices on Friday entered into a strategic partnership with retail chain Future Group to offer GSM mobile telephony services under a new brand T24 to tap the huge customer base of the retail chain.
