DoT rejects Vodafone’s application for service renewals in three service areas

Vodafone Group PLC’s (VOD.LN) Indian unit has disclosed this Friday that Indian Regulator DoT has rejected its permit letter, disallowing it to continue its services in three service areas. Vodafone wants license for the continuation of its services in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. The present licenses are going to expire in November 2014.

Vodafone is India’s second largest telecommunications company by number of its users. This is big setback for the company, affecting the subscribers as well.

BSNL customer care centers to collect bills on Sundays too

BSNL customer care centers are to remain open on Sundays and holidays too for the collection of bills in this month. Through this step, users will be able to enjoy broadband, landline and mobile services efficiently.

“The customers can pay their bills at any customer care centre of the SSA and in case of any inconvenience can contact the Area Divisional Engineers or Accounts Officers. This is being facilitated to offer uninterrupted services like broadband and landline connection and postpaid mobile connectivity to its customers.” says BSNL.

BSNL to commence 3D Data STV ‘Yuva’ again

BSNL is planning to commence 3G Data STV ‘Yuva’ once again. It was launched in October 2012 also.

It was offered in two variants:

1.     INR 120 STV:

It offered 1500 MB data where 250 3G data was for 1 day use. The remaining 1250 MB 3G data is for night usage (11 o’clock night to 7 o’clock morning). The validity is for 30 days.

TRAI extends the date for comments about lowering tariff rates

TRAI has intended to consider more reviews about tariff lowering. TRAI has extended the date to 5th April for giving opinions about tariff rates while on roaming. Written comments are to be submitted by 18th March.

“Keeping in view the request of stakeholders for extension of time for sending their comments, it has been decided to extend the last date for submission of written comments up to April 5, 2013 and for counter-comments up to April 12, 2013,” TRAI said in a statement.

Vodafone India to bid spectrum, extension of licenses rejected

The Department of Telecom has rejected the extension of service licenses of Vodafone in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. Vodafone will now have to bid spectrum to continue its services.
Loop Mobile (Mumbai) and Bharti Airtel are feared to get the same orders. Vodafone, Loop Mobile and Airtel have contacted the court too. They have registered their complaint against Government of India who plans to auction the spectrum that is held by these companies.
